Rainbow USA Flag
The rainbow USA flag replaces the red and white stripes of the American Stars and Stripes with the six colours of the pride rainbow, while keeping the blue canton of fifty white stars. It became popular around 2015, when the US Supreme Court ruled in Obergefell v. Hodges that same-sex couples have a constitutional right to marry. It's used to celebrate LGBTQ+ Americans and American Pride events. In the UK it's mainly bought for American-themed parties, by US expats, and by collectors of national pride variants. There's no single designer and stripe counts vary, so some versions keep the full thirteen stripes in repeating rainbow colours while others use just six. Like most flags in this guide, the Rainbow USA Flag is usually sold in the UK as a 5 x 3 ft (about 150 x 90 cm) polyester flag with two metal eyelets, ready for a flagpole, wall or window.
