Equality Flag (Blue and Yellow / Red and Pink)
The equals-sign flag comes from the logo of the Human Rights Campaign, a large US LGBTQ+ civil rights organisation. Its blue-and-yellow logo, a yellow equals sign on a blue square, was introduced in 1995 and became a widely recognised symbol of LGBTQ+ equality. In March 2013, while the US Supreme Court heard two marriage-equality cases, the organisation released a red-and-pink version. Millions of people used it as their social media profile picture, making it one of the first viral campaigns of its kind. Flags are sold in both colourways. Today it's often flown as a general "equality" flag in support of LGBTQ+ rights, particularly around marriage equality. Like most flags in this guide, the Equality Flag is usually sold in the UK as a 5 x 3 ft (about 150 x 90 cm) polyester flag with two metal eyelets, ready for a flagpole, wall or window.
