Rainbow Peace Flag (PACE)
The rainbow peace flag isn't a pride flag, though it's often mistaken for one. It has seven stripes with violet at the top, rather than red, and usually carries the word PACE, Italian for peace, in white across the middle. Its best-known form dates from 1961, when the Italian philosopher Aldo Capitini used rainbow flags on the first Perugia–Assisi peace march. It became a mass symbol in Italy in 2002–2003 during the "Pace da tutti i balconi" (peace from every balcony) campaign against the Iraq war. Versions with the word "Peace", or "peace" in many languages, are also sold. Fly it as a peace or anti-war flag. If you want an LGBTQ+ pride flag, choose the six-stripe rainbow flag instead.
