Lesbian Pride Flag (Sunset / Community)
The orange and pink lesbian flag, often called the sunset or community lesbian flag, was posted online by Emily Gwen in 2018. It was designed to include all lesbians, including butch and gender non-conforming women, after earlier designs were criticised for leaving them out. The original version has seven stripes running from dark orange through white to dark rose, each with a meaning, from gender non-conformity and independence to love and femininity. A simplified five-stripe version, with the white stripe in the middle, is the one most commonly printed and flown today. Within a few years it became the most widely used lesbian flag. You'll see it at UK Pride marches, on Lesbian Visibility Day (26 April), and in lesbian bars and community spaces.
What the colours mean
| Dark orange | Gender non-conformity | |
|---|---|---|

| White | Unique relationships to womanhood | |
| Pink | Serenity and peace | |
| Dusty pink | Love and sex | |
| Dark rose | Femininity |
The colour bar above shows the flag's palette, not a drawing of it: chevrons, circles and symbols aren't shown. Meanings are as commonly given by the flag's designer or community, and some flags have more than one accepted reading.
