Lipstick Lesbian Flag
The lipstick lesbian flag was introduced in 2010 on the blog This Lesbian Life by Natalie McCray. It has seven stripes in shades of red, pink and white, with a red lipstick kiss in the top-left corner. "Lipstick lesbian" is a term for lesbians with a more traditionally feminine style. For a while the flag, often printed without the kiss, was used more broadly as a lesbian flag. However, it was criticised for leaving out butch and gender non-conforming lesbians, and for comments its creator made. That led to the orange and pink community lesbian flag in 2018, which has largely replaced it for general use. The lipstick flag is still sold, and some people fly it specifically to celebrate a femme lesbian identity.
