Polyamory Pride Flag

Sexuality Flags · Designed by Jim Evans (1995 original); community redesign (2022) · 1995 / 2022

Polyamory means having, or being open to, more than one loving relationship at a time, with everyone's knowledge and consent. The first polyamory flag was created by Jim Evans in 1995. It had blue, red and black stripes with a gold Greek letter pi in the centre. In 2022 the PolyPride community ran a design process and adopted a new flag: blue, magenta and dark purple stripes with a white chevron and a gold heart. Both designs are still sold, so check which one you're buying. The old flag is instantly recognisable to long-time community members, while the new one is easier to read at a glance. It's flown at Pride marches and polyamory events in the UK, Europe and North America.

What the colours mean

White chevron Possibility (2022 design)
Gold heart Love and emotional attachment
Blue Openness and honesty
Magenta Love and passion
Dark purple Solidarity

The colour bar above shows the flag's palette, not a drawing of it: chevrons, circles and symbols aren't shown. Meanings are as commonly given by the flag's designer or community, and some flags have more than one accepted reading.
